We’re thrilled to announce that Alex Tepper, GE’s former Global Director of Innovation and Managing Director of GE Ventures, is joining the Human Ventures family. As Senior Managing Partner, Alex is leading the charge of launching a new business unit called Human Enterprise — with the mission of harnessing the massive opportunity of combining entrepreneurial rigor with corporate innovation.

Corporations are playing an increasingly important role in the startup and venture ecosystem. Tech is not an industry in and of itself anymore — every industry is becoming tech enabled.

As the relationship between the two evolves, the more forward thinking Fortune 100 companies are looking to partner with incubation studios to help accelerate and de-risk their entry into new products and markets. Human Ventures has increasingly been sought out to partner in a variety of business verticals to fulfill this need. Our enterprise arm will play an integral role in making the company builder and fund franchise successful. New York City is particularly well set up to support this three-pronged approach.

Alex is the perfect person to lead these efforts within Human as his career has spanned both the entrepreneurial and corporate landscapes and has always been in a position focused on growth. At GE, Alex worked closely with Beth Comstock, former Vice Chair of GE and an advisor and investor in Human, to build out these initiatives. Most recently, he founded a company that developed AI and robotic solutions for industrial use cases, interpreting sensor and systems data to optimize inspection and maintenance. The company was acquired in 2018 and is going to be the foundational platform for AI at a major oil and gas services company.

“Over the years, I’ve seen the merging of enterprise innovation and high-touch venture incubation from both sides,” Alex says. “I’m excited to help with the evolution of how enterprises can drive growth and startups can increase their likelihood of success — especially at a company like Human Ventures, which is known for the unique lens it brings to company building and supporting the technology industry’s top founders.”

Welcome to the team, Alex!
